There has been a free launch event organized by the Calderdale Food Mixer on Thursday – March 28, 2019 at The Egg Factory, Adj. Unit, Windsor Works, Victoria Rd, Hebden Bridge HX7 8JX. The event will be held between 5 pm to 7 pm.
The Calderdale Food Mixer is an online local farmers’ website hosted by the Open Food Network and in Calderdale by the Halifax Opportunities Trust which lists out the information of local food businesses and their products to order online. The buyers can collect their ordered products from either of the two locations in Calderdale.
The buyers can click on the products they want and collect them from the mixer market running at the Queen Hotel, opposite Todmorden Railway Station. Now from this month onwards, there will be a new mixer point starting at the Egg Factory at Hebden Bridge on Thursday March 28. The mixer will run on every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Now the buyers can choose any of these two locations as their pick up point.
The launch event will be held between 5-7pm and feature Stoodley Hoopla games, Ferret Down the Trousers and yummy tastings.
The online market has secured a grant of £10,000 from the Community Foundation for Calderdale to improve their web shopping portal and for organizing various free taster events at Halifax and Hebden Bridge. It is also supporting for the weekly mixers and in waste reduction.
Marie-Claire Kidd – Food Mixer Host said that this Food Mixer makes the consumers to browse and order online the products of local food producers just like in other websites. They can choose their favourite products from a list of products from fruit buns to cheese and pick up from at one of the 4 weekly mixers at two locations. The weekly mixers are great opportunity for both local producers and buyers to meet and find out the exclusive local food available. To avoid food waste, the Calderdale Food Mixer is selling quality surplus food through their portal at reduced prices.
