A free lantern making workshop will be held on 21st November from 11:30 am to 6:00pm, at Daventry Community Centre, Ashby Road. This is a free workshop and open to anyone interested in taking part in Daventry’s lantern parade scheduled on 4th December (Friday), at 6:30pm. This follows the success of the first workshop for lantern making on 14th November.
The workshop by town council found great creativity in people’s creations. They included creations like stars and flowers, angels, snowmen and Christmas trees. Even a butterfly, R2-D2 robot and a hot-air balloon were created. The response was overwhelming, with people enjoying it and more people wanting to get involved, said the town council spokesman. He also thanked the Homebase and Alpine Carpet Warehouse, Daventry branch, for donating materials. A lantern takes about 1 to 2 hours to be made. To book a place at the free workshop, please telephone to- 01327-301246, or send an email to- lorna.white@daventrytowncouncil.gov.uk.
