Thames Valley’s largest free hot-air balloon event will be held in July, at Newbury Showground. The Newbury Balloon Festival will fill the Thames Valley sky with colourful balloons on a free 3-day event to be held from 17th July (Friday) to 19th July (Sunday), at the Newbury Showground in Prior Court, Hermitage, Thatcham.
The organisers promise this would be no ordinary ballooning festival and will be something much bigger. The event will have a classic car show, catering units, a bar and also arts and crafts. Other activities are being arranged for the free event.
At the beginning of February a Facebook page was created for the event and over 2,000 people have already liked it. The post there says organisers have some great local bands and performers lined up for the 3 days and are planning more to the main arena, in-between ballooning activities. Proceeds gained will be shared between 3 local organisations.
The event is open to all to attend. But parking will be charged. A website for the event will be soon launched. Those interested in putting up a stall or wishing to perform, at the free event, have to contact by messaging to the organisers on the Facebook page.
