Waterloo residents to receive free home energy audits

Waterloo residents are set to benefit from home energy audits for free of cost. This fantastic service will be offered by a dedicated team of young volunteers who have been recently trained. Their knowledge about energy saving techniques will be imparted to the people in this area during this free energy audits. Residents of waterloo will be visited by enthusiastic team of volunteers. During their visit, they will offer free report on potential energy savings and fuel efficiency at home.

Waterloo Energy Academy project, a part of Waterloo Community Development Group has successfully trained 20 young people between ages 18 and 24 to perform the free audits. The free audits will last for 30 minutes and it will offer information on energy usage at home. Besides, it will offer personalised reports that detail various ways to minimize home’s carbon footprint. The energy use can be minimized by adopting simple ways at home.

WCDG teams up with Sustainable Communities, a social enterprise to support their scheme. This scheme will create awareness about the Green Deal programme of the government. Millions of residents and businesses will be provided with energy saving packages under the scheme. This will also open new job opportunities to both skilled and unskilled people in areas like assessment, manufacturing, installation and supply. By participating in the schemes, carbon footprint of the area can be reduced. It will also help individuals and homes save on energy bills.
