Google has launched at ‘Campus London’ its inaugural ‘Founders over 50’ programme. This initiative is to help people looking to start their own business, but are aged 50 and over. The programme starts on 17th June, being held one morning a week for 6 weeks. ‘Founders over 50’ programme will be led by investors and successful entrepreneurs, offering inspiration, training and skill sharing.
Head of Campus London on Bonhill Street, Sarah Drinkwater, said Google opened the programme in 2012 and they have supported it at thousands of free events, lectures, hackathons and workshops. As diversity is part of their mission, they believe all segments of society help to influence and crate technology, making online products better and more useful, she added. The programme will be covering business planning, design and communications at the free sessions. The office for National Statistics (ONS) says that of those above 50 years, 1 in 5 are self-employed with their number anticipated to touch 2 million by 2020.
