A week long celebration is being held for the ‘Adult Learner’, to be hosted at Swadlincote, South Derbyshire. The celebration runs from 13th June to 19th June. The celebration of lifelong learning aims to encourage people to get back to learning. The series of free taster sessions, events and open days, all aim to encourage people to learn. They can try learning on the have-a-go sessions and celebrate the learner’s successes.
Activities will be held all week at the Swadlincote Adult Eduction Centre and they include taster sessions on using iPads, sessions on textiles and maths skills in crockery involving quantities, weights and timings. Damien Greenhalgh who is deputy cabinet member for children and young people of Derbyshire Council, has remarked that the ‘Adult Learners’ week is a wonderful opportunity for all to have-a-go at learning something new and there are many taster sessions to take part and try out. He added that people may like to take up learning something new for fun or might want to improve their job prospects by getting a qualification. This celebration of free events for adult learners would be immensely useful to many.
