A partnership between the Dog Trust and the Hambleton District Council has started a series of events to help dog owners. The Gates Centre in Easinghold will host the next session on 6th February. There’s no need to book for the free session, which starts from 11am and goes on till 30pm. Any Hambleton dog owner can avail free micro-chipping and checking, health checks, training advice and nail clipping at the event.
These roadshows will help save money for pet owners and the Dog Trust is donating the microchips. The trust aims to chip each dog attending the session. Owners can also check or update the existing microchips. To get a dog micro-chipped, it must be at least 6 months old, should be fully vaccinated and must be carried. Micro-chipping gives assurance to pet owners that if stolen or lost, a pet gets a much better chance of being found or returned.
The council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Environment, Stephan Watson, said dogs have to be micro-chipped and an ID tag collar worn when in public. The councillor added that they were glad to continue their partnership with Dog Trust, to be able to offer this free service to residents.
