Free events for Remembrance Day at Henley

Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, will be hosting free events to mark Remembrance Day. Henley and Peppard branch of the Royal British Legion will hosting 4 free events during the Remembrance period. On 27th October (Thursday) battlefield guide and photographer Mike St. Maur Sheil will be holding an illustrated talk at Henley Town Hall at 7:30pm, entitled- ‘1st July 1916: The aftermath of the day that changed our nation’s history’. Following day, on 28th October (Friday), the Old Fire Station Gallery will see the launch of ‘Fields of Battle Lands of Peace 14-18’, a photo-exhibition by Mike St Maur Sheil, which will run up to 13th November.

Poppy Appeal in Henley will be launched on 29th October (Saturday), at Falaise Square, at 10:30am, with Mayor Julian Brookes buying the first poppy at 11am. At the Market Place during the morning, the Ukulele players of Sam Brown will provide entertainment. The final free event on the 8th November (Tuesday) will be the screening of the film – Battle of the Somme, at Christ Church Centre at 8pm, on Reading Road.
