An impressive programme of arts, dance, shows and performances are being planned to take centre stage in Gloucester, during the Rugby World Cup. The 2015 Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial rugby union’s world championship is being hosted this time by England, scheduled to run from 18th September to 31st October.

Throughout the tournament days, thanks to a grant of £85,000, the visitors to the city can see lots of free events. They include live music, dancing, drumming, pipers, sculptures and singing at King’s Square and the docks. The free events will culminate in a public performance at the Fanzone by some 200 children and parents together participating in a large-scale outdoor event.

During this September and October, international firms will deliver live acts, representing each competing country in the tournament, playing at Kingsholm stadium, thanks to a joint association with Marketing Gloucester by the Arts Council England, Gloucester City Council, EDF Energy and Gloucester Festival Strike a Light.
