November 15th, 2015 by Sandy

York will be hosting the Explore York Libraries & Archives, which will be staging a series of free events and topics covering the amazing past of York and the future of democracy. The events will be held for a week from 14th November to 21st November, Saturday.

Explore Your Archives will showcase the potential of the archives. The public service manager for archives and local history, Laura Yeoman, said that the collections of 800 years of York history are available to all, to academic, student, tourist, resident or somebody curious. The event is being held after the new archives store was completed last year, she added.

Coinciding, Parliament Week this year has the theme- The Future of Democracy. Explore York has compiled a series of events and talks to mark this celebration of democracy. Adrian Clark, the reference and information librarian said the speakers will inform, opinion, provoke thought and challenge assumptions on the future of democracy. He added that They are happy to co-produce for the first time, a community cinema at York Explore and all that support an open and fair society. Adrian Clark said it was fitting that these free events are being hosted at the central library of York. For more details look into this address- www.yorkmix.com/venue/york-explore-library/.
