Back again this year will be the Swansea Jazz Festival, after last year’s success. The jazz festival will take place between 12th and 14th June, and again be held across the maritime quarter, at around 10 venues and also includes the Dylan Thomas Centre. Again, there will be a mix of ticketed and free events, such as concerts, workshops and others, to total to some 50 events this time.
Last year the event attracted musicians from across the UK and even overseas. Visitors came from near and far, like Germany, Brazil and the even USA. The festival really boosted tourism in Swansea Bay in 2014, as it was joined to add to the festival calendar of the city, with the inaugural Swansea Beach soccer Festival. The council’s marketing manager, Frances Jenkins, said the event helped in attracting more visitors and it raised the profile of the place too. The successful events and festivals help to further strengthen the status of Swansea as a leading city of culture and sport, she added.
