The Guildford Borough is making Guildford Museum out for few months to bring history to life by connecting the past events with the present with a host of wonderful free events around the borough.
The events will take place in June, July and August months.
- On June 15, 2019, free family fun in the Castle Grounds, 10 Castle St, Guildford GU1 3UW by bringing medieval Guildford back.
- An event of connecting past history and present objects on June 22, 2019 at Shackleford Village Fete and on July 20, 2019 at Wood Street Village Show.
- Free exhibition “People and Places” from July 20 to September 22, 2019 at Guildford House Gallery, 155 High St, Guildford GU1 3AJ.
- Family Fun Day with free entertainment based on Lewis Carroll’s famous character on August 3, 2019 at the Castle Grounds.
- Free creation of origami boat from August 8 to August 10, 2019 at stand at Guildford-on-Sea Urban Beach.
Cllr James Steel – Lead Councillor for Leisure, Heritage and Tourism said that they are taking over the museum out for few months to bring past history to the present life. There will be host of events taking place exhibitions, family fun events for all ages to enjoy and most of them are free. He also added they look to find new ways to share their heritage and arts and the museum building gives them great chance to take it out.
They are having wonderful plans to do improvements in the museum in the future to make it important place for its heritage and culture. The proposed plans and the current maintenance is part of their investment which will be carried out to protect the collections in the museum and for future developments.
As the museum is closed temporarily for maintenance and will be opened in autumn, the usual activities will be taking place at Guildford House Gallery at Guildford High Street.
