In a couple of weeks the first ever Kilburn Literary Festival will be launched, supported by The Times. It will feature family-friendly events, creative writing classes, author events, celebrities, quizzes and workshops. The event has something for everybody.
Event organiser Kayle Forde explained, as the Kilburn Festival and The Queens Park Book Fair got cancelled this year, she felt the need for something to fill it. She hopes this festival will become an annual event. The festival runs from 30th October to 4th November.
The launch on 30th October will start with the Flash Fiction Writing Competition final, to be held at The North London Tavern. 10 writers will be short-listed by a panel consisting of writers, literary agents and a publisher. Audience will be read the stories by professional actors, after which they have to vote to choose the winner. A coveted trophy and £100 will be presented.
The next day will see award-winning writer Allen Ashley lead a family-friendly writing workshop. On Saturday, there will be talks and workshops covering numerous themes and interests, like the history of Kilburn’s authors or a talk on Dysplexia. Joanne Good and Anna Webb from Radio London will entertain audience with the Barking Blondes. Events mostly taking place at the North London Tavern, the Sheriff Centre at St. James Church, The Tricycle Theatre and the Creative Space, there will be both free events and ticketed ones.
The festival ends on 4th November at the North London Tavern, with the Pub Quiz hosted by Stewart McCartney, the celebrated quiz master. For more details visit the website- kilburnliteraryfestival.co.uk.
