Free events at Chinese New Year celebrations at the Port Sunlight gallery

February 16th, 2015 by Sandy

Three days of free events and activities are being planned to celebrate and welcome the Chinese New-Year, the Year of the Goat, at the Port Sunlight gallery. The 3-day celebrations would be hosted between 19th & 22nd February. A programme of free activities and events will be offered to visitors to the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Port Sunlight. Free events include colourful lion and dragon dances, live music, live performances , including Chinese story-telling, even a Chinese themed gallery trail and also demonstrations of calligraphy. Children can participate in drop-in craft workshops, for hands-on making of collages, masks and Chinese zodiac animals.

The celebrations are also in conjunction with the re-opening of the Lady Lever South End galleries in the coming spring of 2016. This follows a generous grant earlier in September 2014, from the Heritage lottery fund, to improve the internationally acclaimed Chinese ceramic collection and the galleries.

Jon Marrow, senior education manager of Lady Lever, said they were looking forward to the free events at the Gallery, and presenting an interesting programme of activities and events for the whole family to enjoy.
