April 13th, 2015 by Sandy

Maglia Rosso is a successful cycle centre in Hawstead and the shop is celebrating its first anniversary in the weekend of 24th April to 26 April. A celebratory event starts at 7.30pm eventing on Friday (24 April). There will be a demonstration day on Saturday (25 April), which includes advice and special offers and also a cyclocross challenge. On Sunday (26 April) there will be a escorted country ride, a 25 mile ride and two 30 mile rides. Although participation is free, booking is advised. Phone up on 01284-386884; or visit website-magliarosso.co.uk.

Maglia Rosso was opened at the former pub Metcalfe Arm by Barry and Matt Danny. Now the shop and cafe with servicing and repairs, also provides local bike routes and attracts cyclists from outside of the county, like Norwich and Cambridge. Barry is vice-president of the West Suffolk Wheelers cycling club too, and has been able to cater to the enthusiasm for cycling in Suffolk, besides offering the free event for the anniversary. To get people to cycling the county has launched Suffolk’s Year of Cycling. People can also hire bikes at Maglia Rosso and use a field for cyclocross racing. Barry has sold more bikes to women than to men and see great potential growth in the area.
