Free event “Sun Family Festival” at Science Museum, London

Science Museum at London has organized for a free event of “The Sun Family Festival” on Saturday – March 2 & Sunday – March 3, 2019 at their museum at Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, SW7 2DD. Various events will take place from 12 pm to 5 pm.

This is a free family festival event where you can make free outing on this weekend along with your kids to know more about the sun and its family. There are various workshops, sessions and activities taking place.

Sun Space Art Workshop
There will be an art workshop at Information Age, Level 2 of the museum running between 12 to 1.30 pm & 2.30 to 4 pm. The workshop is a drop in event and suitable for children aged 6+ years. You can raise all your queries about the sun with the experts and do some crafty bookmarks and popup cards. The event is funded by the Science & Technology Facilities Council. 

Screen-Printing Workshop
There will be a screen printing workshop at Information Age, Level 2 running between 12 to 3.30 pm. This is a drop in event and suitable for those aged 6+ years. You can bring your creativity into reality by doing on your own screen-printed souvenir for the sun festival.

Green Fingers Workshop
There will be a Green Fingers workshop at Information Age, Level 2 running between 12 to 3.30 pm. This is a drop in event and suitable for those aged 6+ years. Here you can know about how the plants are using energy from the sun, explore more about the plants. Get the seeds and soil.

Swiss Solar Activities
There will be Swiss Solar activities at Information Age, Level 2 running between 12 to 4 pm. This is a drop in event and suitable for those aged 6+ years. Meet the Swiss Embassy and the Raumschiff team and explore more about the sun and its behavior on the special day. Also find out the images of solar activity and you can also do printing your personal photo of the Sun to take along with you.

Storytelling – A Star is born
There will be a Story telling event at Mathematics, Level 2 running at 1pm, 2 pm and 3 pm. This is suitable for kids aged 3 to 6 years. Your little ones will be excited to hear about the amazing stories about the lifetime of a star.

The Sun – Dance Workshop
There will be a Dance workshop at Flight, Level 3 and each session lasts for 40 minute running at 12 pm, 2pm and 3 pm on March 2. This event is suitable for those aged 6+ years. You can enjoy the performance of the artist Suba Subramaniam and find out the sun and space through her interactive dance movement and gestures.

Exhibition – The Sun: Living with our star
There will be an exhibition “The Sun: Living with our star” at Exhibition Gallery, Level 1 running until May 6, 2019. There is an entry fee of £15 for kids aged 16+ years and below 16 can go for free.
