A free fund raising cultural event will be held to find bone marrow donors for those suffering from diseases such as leukaemia (blood cancer). The event will be organized by KCWA Trust, Friends of Kerala supported by Sangeetha of UK.
The event will be held from 4pm to 8pm on December 22 at the Archbishop Lanfranc School, Mitcham Road, CR9 3AS. It is also being held to help save life of their friend suffering from blood cancer. It is found that just 6% of the registered donors are Asians and chances of getting a match are very meager. Hence, this event will help to spread awareness on this issue and also to save life of their friend.
An oncologist specialist will attend the event and explain on the implications of leukaemia and also on the ways of preventing this disease. Attendees who are interested to register as a donor must undergo a swab test on the day of the event. Musical treat and dance performances will be held to raise funds for the cause.
