Portrush Airshow 2018 is a free event which is a flagship event in Norther Ireland. It will be held on September 1 & 2, 2018 in the seaside resort town of Portrush in County Antrim, Northern Ireland and has been organised by Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council.
Royal Air Force at its 100th year has given “Air Waves Portrush” show with Platinum status for the 2018 event. There will be wonderful aerial displays, exhibitions, ground attractions, simulators, STEM village, live entertainment and many more. The programmes will start from 11 am and run until 10 pm.
This year’s airshow is ready to take off. As it is a free to enter event, you can bring all you family and friends with you to enjoy such a wonderful weekend. The show brings a packed programme of aerial display entertainment and various land based activities. The programmes will take place on both the days on the Portrush Strand – Village North & South. The best viewing of air shows will be from Village North.
Village North
The visitors can find at the Village North the wonderful north Coast, Glens Artisan Market, Military Vehicles & re-enactments and model Aircraft displays. There will be a soft play section and food village at one part of the green and on the other side you can find some of the Sea Cadets sharing their experience.
Artisan market
You can visit the Glens Artisan Market at Antrim Gardens. It offers beautiful arts & crafts, tasty local produce and you can discuss with them about their products and talents.
Meet the cadets
You can meet some of the Cadets of armed forces and find interesting stories and know more about how you can become a cadet.
Fun zone
Here on both Village North & south, kids can find the fun zone and enjoy playing.
Village South
At the East Strand Car park, you can find the main exhibition where you can see various aviation displays from the RAF, Ulster Aviation Society. Army and Navy will be hosting various have a go activities & STEM village.
Ulster Aviation society
You can find the displays of Northern Ireland’s wonderful aviation heritage and history at the large marquee. The visitors can personally experience with their aircrafts by climbing on the Alouette Helicopter in the front office of the society.
Armed Forces Village
You can meet members of the armed forces from Army, Navy and Air Force and know more about their skills, equipments required in operations. This is really a wonderful experience of meeting and knowing about their life.
STEM Village
There will be a STEM Village where STEM employees provides information and they will help you in discovering your interests for your career. There will also be available their STEM orientated careers programmes.
Entertainment:
The live concert will begin on Saturday 1st September from 7 pm with MC Brian Moore at the Crescent Play area before the air show begins from 8 pm. Otis and the Elevators will show their talents following the first one and there will be extra set by local duo Villa in France for a fireworks display. This events will end up after 10 pm.
