People aged 55+ usually will face many physical and mental issues due to ageing. Regular health checkups, physical fitness exercises and leisure activities will make them for sure to stay fit and happy in their life.
To create awareness on health, the “Eden Health & Wellbeing Day” is organised at Penrith Leisure Centre, Eden between 10 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. The residents of Eden who are aged above 55s are invited for the free event.
Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust along with Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), a leisure services centre has arranged for this free event to focus on sharing knowledge and advice on various health services and leisure activities available for the residents aged above 55s in Eden Council.
Various stalls of service providers to offer free advice, free samples are available and also they can take part in:
1) Functional Fitness MOTs by Eden NHS physiotherapy Team (various physical function tests for 55+ to know about their fitness and its importance)
2) Getting details and advice for the pains associated with osteroarthritis from the NEW ESCAPE pain team
3) Free Taster sessions of the leisure centres and
4) Can avail some complimentary refreshments
Eden Physiotherapy Clinical lead, Tanya Coates stated that the day will be an good opportunity to bring all local services in one place for the benefit of Eden Residents.
Also Lynn Almond, Cumbria Health Manager for GLL said that they feel happy to host this event and GLL and Eden Council will work together to promote services and provide opportunities and also to organise similar events and activities regularly upon success of this upcoming event to improve the health and well being of the residents.
