Are you an employed and working in Southwark? Felt more stressed of your work?
Here Southwark Chamber of Commerce has organised for a free event for employees in the borough on Tuesday – March 19, 2019 at Anthony Gold Solicitors, Counting House, 53 Tooley Street, SE1 2QN. The session will run from 8.30 am to 10 am.
The sessions are focused on the employees working across Southwark to help them in combating the stress that they suffer in the workplace with the help of mind body practices. They will be explained about various such practices yoga, mindfulness etc in managing their mental stress.
There will be a presentation on “Stress in the Workplace” presented by Professor Kevin Fenton – MD, PhD, FFPH. He is the Strategic Director for Place and Wellbeing at the London Borough of Southwark Council. He is working to promote health & wellbeing and equity in all policies and programmes across the council.
He will explain about various facts on work related stress, conditions of mental health and sickness absence, difference between pressure & stress, how to manage such stress with the help of the HSE’s Management Standards approach, 6 important factors that leads to such stress, tips on handling the sufferers of work-related stress and signposting to useful resources.
There will be another session “Mindfulness in the Workplace” delivered by Janice White – MA, Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT). She is the instructor on Yoga & Mindfulness and expert in managing mental health conditions. She has completed training in The Minded Institute and she is working as a lecturer on professional training programme of the institute. She has completed her Master in Yoga & Meditation Traditions in SOAS University of London and the book Yoga for Mental Health has been contributed by her. She will explain on how mind body practices such as yoga and mindfulness will be helpful in tackling stress in the workplace.
