Free event on Ageless Thanet for aged 50+ years

The annual celebration of Ageless Thanet 50+ Festival has been organised on Sunday – November 4, 2018 and held at St. George’s School, Westwood Road, Broadstairs CT10 2LH. The celebration will be running from 10 am to 3 pm. All ages are welcome.

Ageless Thanet is one of the national projects led by Social Enterprise Kent which is funded by Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better programme of the the Big Lottery Fund. Ageless Thanet in association with various organisations and people brings exciting fun based activities and events focusing on people aged 50+ years. Here you can come to know about what are the services available for those aged above 50 years in Thanet area.

There will be wonderful refreshments available as Sharon Goodyer’s Our Kitchen (located in the Isle of Thanet), Tea Parlour by Bessie and vintage tea room are putting stalls which make to experience delicious and home made taste of food. Tea & Tiffin of Tuk Tuk will be serving cake and coffee.

There will be many activities of various taster sessions of Tai Chi (relaxing & toning exercises), Social singing with Katharine & Richard, Belly dancing, Japanese drumming, Lumba fitness activities, Scottish country dance, boccia ball game and healthy cooking and many more. It is going to be fun filled day for everyone. You can also have a taster at 2 pm which will be run by The Rock Choir after their performance at 1:30 pm.

There will be a Hugs & Handshakes Corner present on the day after getting recognition for their Hugs & Handshakes Day. Come along and have a hug. As loneliness is the main problem for elders, such small moments of hugs and handshakes will help to remove their loneliness. You will also find some important awareness sessions on topics of scams and Dementia. Everywhere you can find variety of stalls that offer to the 50+ aged residents of Thanet.

Bluebird Care, All Seasons, Right at Home, Caremark Thanet and The Martin Bell Partnership are the main sponsors for the event.

Director of Operations for All Seasons – Maria Nicholls said that they are happy to work with Ageless Thanet to organise for the 50+ Festival. As their clients base are mostly in the age of 50+, they supports the ethos of this festival. This is a great opportunity for those aged people to take part in such fun filled and socialised events to find new friends and enjoy the day.
