Free event of Under the Stars returns to East Ham

Under the Stars in East Ham is a four-night, free extravaganza, run by the council, taking pace from 17th to 20th August, at Central Park, East Ham. Highlights for the event include a reggae bonanza, Eastern beats and the iconic 70s girl group- The Three Degrees. Singers who will get things moving include Massive Attack’s Daddy G, Horace Andy and Tippa Irie. Pato Banton, the Grammy-nominated legend under guidance of DJ Daddy Ernie from Choice FM, will headline the first night. On Friday, 18th August, Nadia Ali of BBC Asian Network will host Asian flavours, presenting Chand Ali Khan Qawal, Sonia Walia, Faraz Khan, Arjun and Epika Dance Troupe on live performances, besides Apna Sangeet, the Bhangra pioneers.

Veteran DJ of Heart FM, Roberto, will orchestrate vintage pop on Saturday night (19th August), kicking off with Edwin Starr Band’s Motown sounds. It will be followed by Ruby Turner and The Three Degrees, the 70s girl group, will follow performing choices like ‘Take Good Care of Yourself’ and ‘When Will I See You Again’. Next, on Sunday (20th August), it will be Every Child a Musician – Stars Orchestra. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will end the concert with the fireworks display along to end the annual free event– Under the Stars. Every night, the gates to Central Park will open at 6:30pm, via the entrance on the High Street South, with strict security checks.
