This weekend, the visitors to the Leigh can enjoy the fourth annual Leigh Canal Festival which will be held on Saturday – September 15 & Sunday – September 17, 2018 at Leigh Miners Welfare Institute, Kirby Road, Leigh WN7 4EF.
The visitors can park their car at the towpath by Plank Lane Bridge and the Waterside Inn on Twist Lane from where they will get free Water Taxi service “WAXI service” to the festival area. The event will run from 10 am to 5 pm on both days.
There will be around 35 attractions at the festival run on both days. The visitors can find various historic boats standing at the festival area. NCB George is one of the wooden horse drawn short boats which is last remaining brought from Leeds and Liverpool Canal as a visitor & educational centre floating in the water. Narrow boats will also join the festival.
There will also be available to enjoy in the festival with funfair, stalls,canal crafts & arts displays, climbing wall and children’s events, sculptures & willow weaving, fire & rescue service including fire engine, fire safety informaton and food & drinks area.
There will be free sessions of Canoeing. Kittiwake boats will offer canal trips for a charge. You can also enjoy Rugby matches that also include demo games for ladies. Music entertainment of blues, acoustic rock, folk etc will be available.
