A free laughter yoga event is to be hosted in Glasgow, at the Bellahouston Park on Paisley Road. The free event is from 2:30pm to 3:30pm on Sunday (22 May) and will be led by yoga instructor Carol Ramsay. Glasgow Park Lives is organising the laughter session, to mark the Mental Health Awareness Week from 16 May to 22 May.
Laughter yoga is based on the belief that the same benefits gained physiologically and psychologically from spontaneous laughter can be gained by voluntary laughter also. The practice involves prolonged duration of voluntary laughter and is done in groups, with playfulness and eye-contact between participants. The belief of multiple health benefits in laughter yoga, is what motivates participation and it is cited as a mood booster too.
The Glasgow Park Lives programme, initiated by Coca-Cola Great Britain, in partnership with Glasgow Life, encourages outdoor activity and to explore local parks and green spaces. The programme offers more than 20 free events and session, plus fun and informal activities. Tai-Chi and Buggy Shape Up are new sessions in this year.
