There has been a free bird spotting event organized on Sunday – January 27, 2019 in Horsham Park, North Street, Horsham RH12 1RJ. The event will be held between 10 am to 12 pm. The event will take place at the park Barn near Conservatory Café.
The event is being held as a part of the celebrations of 40th Anniversary of the RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch and organized by the Friends of Horsham Park. The participants will be given with a bird identity sheet and will have to go around the park to note down what birds they can find out. There will be available a bird expert to help you. There will be various indoor activities for children.
Chairman Sally Sanderson said that as there was not any survey conducted in the park, they want to explore various species found in the park to support the habitats. They are hoping to find out and count some fieldfares, redwings, woodpecker and more. The result of findings will be forwarded to the RSPB to add in their database. He also added that this is their first initiative and enable all to enjoy and learn about the wildlife in the park. They will be having certain conservation projects expected to launch in mid of February.
Alison Farrell – Event Organiser said that they thank RSPB for their support for this event. The event will be a great success and will become an annual event. There are activities for Children to take part such as puzzles, colouring and more. The participants, who are not having nut/seed allergies, can make the bird food balls at the event day which they can take to their home for bird spotting.
