Two free events will be hosted next month by farm organisations such as, EBLEX and NFU, that aims at helping out upland farmers. The two conferences will help them in developing profitable farming businesses, by bringing key-speakers of the industry together and help them to see the future of upland farming. The first free event is to be held at the Roadford Lake, near Okehampton, on 3rd February, to be hosted from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.
The free event will see discussions by speakers from HSBC, law firms and universities on many aspects related to upland farming. Farmers of the two upland regions attending will be able to talk about the opportunities and challenges they face in their farms.
The chairman Robin Milton, NFU Uplands Group, said hill farmers have been facing a lot of uncertainty over the past one and a half years, owing to factors like bad weather, diseases and rising costs, which has found farmers getting lesser for their produce than costs. They should be rewarded for hard work and treated fairly too if they are continue delivering for future, he added. Head of regional development at EBLEX, Clive Brown, said recognising the increasing challenges of upland farming they aim to help such farmers to optimise performance of their farm businesses.
