There is free entry to two museums at Norwich – Strangers’ Hall and Museum of Norwich at Bridewell from July 24 to August 5, 2018. The Strangers’ Hall Museum at 4 Charing Cross, Norwich NR2 4AL, UK is open on Wednesday to Friday between 10 am to 4 pm and on Sunday between 1 pm to 4.30 pm. The Museum of Norwich at 9 Bridewell Alley, Norwich NR2 1AQ, UK is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 am to 4.30 pm.

The Freemen of Norwich charity has given an opportunity to the public to visit the two famous museums for free. The free entry is provided upon the success of last year’s similar event to mark the Freemen of Norwich’s 700th Anniversary.

You can enjoy there the displays of the city’s industrial heritage and a mini hare trail which features children’s GoGoHare sculptures. The 19th Centrury’s, Jacquard Loom in a full working condition is also available at the museum. At Strangers’ Hall, the visitors can find the fascinating merchant’s marks to identify the goods which were used by them in early days. As many Freemen were textile merchants/ Weavers, you can also see here many artefacts brought from the textile industry at the museum. There will be many activities for kids as a part of the GoGoHares trail.

Chairman of the Freemen’s Committee and Norwich Freemen Charity – Nigel Back said that Norwich has a background with great history and so they are encouraging public to know more about their city & its heritage.

Curator – Jenny Caynes said that the free days broke all the records last year with more number of new visitors to the museums and enjoyed a lot and many were return visitors also. They are grateful to the charity for the support again this year.

There is no need for booking. Simply just make a visit to these two museums with free entry and take up this chance to enjoy the most precious collections.
