Free electric car charging offered by UK hospitals

Free Electric ChargingThe UK hospitals are offering electric car charging for free. Patients as well as visitors can benefit from this free electric car charging service opened by the UK hospitals. Owners of plug-in hybrid or electric vehicles can get their vehicles charged. At St Helier hospital, two charging units for this purpose is installed. Similarly, two charging units are available in Epsom hospital and one at Sutton hospital. This charging unit is these hospitals will encourage the usage of electric vehicles by patients and visitors. All these three hospitals across Surrey and south London, UK provide the charging services to people for free.

A charging unit is capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously. To access the charge points, the electric vehicle owners will be offered with an electronic ID card.

The authority responsible for transport strategy in Greater London, Transport for London has introduced the Chargemaster equipment. Cost of the electricity will be paid by the NHS. This is part of the ‘green’ agenda of the hospital authority. The green movement of the hospital includes composing food wastes and providing recycling services for plastic bottles, glass and cans. The electricity costs for offering car charging facilities will be significantly small amount. Costs shouldn’t be a problem for NHS.
