Free Brighton Festival Taster Day

Brighton Festival has organized for a free taster day on Sunday – April 7, 2019 at Brighton Dome Café-bar, Church Street, Brighton, BN1 1UE. The events are free and running between 12 am to 4 pm.

The event is inspired by Guest Director of Brighton Festival Musician Rokia Traore with the theme as storytelling and journeys. You can enjoy the festival line up on the open day suitable for all ages with meeting the Festival team, taste some delicious Senegalese food from Le Baobab Cuisine, enjoy live West African music and lots of free activities.

There will be free family friendly activities held suitable for all ages which include story time corner, poetry workshops, cup cake decorating, mask & badge making and own smoothie bicycle.

There will also two special ticketed events run on the day. There will also be an event “The History of Brighton Festival” hosted by Philip Morgan – the former Brighton Festival Producer between 12.15 pm to 1 pm at Founders Room and he will talk about the past of the festival’s quirky events all from dating back from the first festival in 1814.

The other one is Clowning and Physical Theatre Workshop which will be running from 3.15 pm to 4 pm at Founders Room and suitable for those aged 14+ years and it will feature an introduction to the art of physical theatre and clowning around from Spymonkey’s Toby Park celebrating their 20th anniversary. .

The Executive Producer of Brighton Festival – Beth Burgess said that the open taster day will offer the visitors with a flavor of west African culture inspired by Rokia. The festival team will be available to interact and answer the participants on their questions on various events and they can enjoy with free activities and entertainment on the taster day of Sunday. The visitors can buy tickets without order booking fees on the day and also when 6+ tickets are purchased for various events they will avail multi buy offer.
