It is absolutely startling to hear that every one out of three adults has high blood pressure and the worst part of this disease is that it offers absolutely no symptoms. The amazing thing is that one third of the people are simply not aware that they suffer from high blood pressure.
The blood pressure is believed to be the country’s largest silent killer and is the cause for 40 percent of the heart attacks and 6 percent of the strokes that occur.
It is unfortunate that suffering from high blood pressure is also dangerous for kidney ailments as well as for dementia.
The Lead Nurse at Cambridgeshire Community Service NHS Trust’s Coronary Heart Disease Specialist Nursing Service in Peterborough stated that being aware of one’s blood pressure figures can actually be save lives. She went on to explain that checking one’s blood pressure is a fast painless and simple process and if detected early high blood pressure can easily be treated and managed.
She added that just going in to check one’s blood pressure is free , and will only take a couple of minutes and for all one knows he/she may even be glad that did check their numbers.
This session where people can drop in any time between 9 am and 1.30 pm will be conducted on Tuesday at Van Hage, Peterborough Garden Park, Peterborough.
