There is anticipation that offering free Beano comics to school going children will hopefully get kids to do better in their work at school as well as provide them with healthy eating habits.
All primary school students in Scotland would be provided with a free copy of the Beano comic. This venture initiated by DC Thompson the publishers followed soon after the explosive news that the Dandy, a sister comic to Beano would be reaching the stands one more time in October, after which it would be stopped.
This special issue of the Beano comic that was originally published in the year 1938 will be provided to all the 370,000 primary school students throughout the length and breadth of the Scotland.
In a novel technique to get to the younger kids, the preferred characters like Dennis the Menace and Gnasher will educate the students about the advantages of managing their time, and instigate them to do better in their work at school.
Counsels on how to manage money and savings, will be offered by another of the favoured comic character, Minnie the Minx, while healthy eating habits and options of far improved style of life will be put forwards by the Bash Street Kids.
Danny and Spotty, Fatty from among the Bash Street Kids, Plug and Smiffy would urge the kids to eat a minimum of five helpings of fruits daily.
Alasdair Allan, the Minister for Learning greeted the move and stated that it would assist the younger kids to build new abilities.
He also added that by making the process of learning enjoyable, connected to their subjects and interesting and providing it in a way that instigates the kids to want to study can be a very difficult thing.
He stated that practice and skills revealed that inventive and resourceful methods assist the kids to develop vital aptitudes.
The publishers, DC Thompson of Dundee are trying to work out this aspiring venture in association with Scottish Business in the town to commemorate their 30th anniversary.
