The Museum of Military Life, housed in Carlisle Castle in Cumbria, is running their ‘Lest We Forget’ commemorations in its tercentenary year. As part of this programme, funded as a Heritage Lottery project, the museum has partnered with community venues of the area, to encourage residents to participate. These venues will deliver free workshops around the county, roping in local artists, encouraging people to come, get inspired and participate. The workshops created by the museum is for a creative response to remembrance, what it means to us and why we remember. That Carlisle Castle museum wants the public to think (about remembrance).
These artist-led free workshops are open to all to get involved, whatever be their age. On 7th April (Saturday) the Helena Thompson Museum will hold free ‘Drop-in’ sessions. On 10th April (Tuesday) it will be held at Brampton Community Centre. On 12th April (Thursday) it will be held at the Wave Centre, from 11am to 3pm.
