April 18th, 2016 by Sandy

The ‘Gravity Grand Prix’ is a fun event which is conducted annually towards the end of the summer, in Cookam Dan, a village of Berkshire. The free event is run by The Kaffirs of Cookham Dean, as a fund raising event for charity, traditionally for The Thames Valley Air Ambulance. This year happens to be the 10th consecutive year of the fun event It has attracted a growing number of spectators and competitors every year and could become the biggest one yet, this year. Over the years, it has become a very popular fun event, watched by many thousands of cheering spectators.

The event will be hosted on 11th September, Sunday, with the course starting at 1:30pm, from the junction of Spring Lane and Church Road, running through the centre of Dean to reach Uncle Tom’s Cabin Pub. The free event would be seeing up to 30 karts taking part in the funny race. The karts will be started on a push, to be driven downhill, with no engines, pedals or any other mechanical propulsion, except by pull of gravity. The levels of creativity put into the building of the karts too have delighted all. Themed fun karts are being encouraged and not just races, as they create so much more spectator interest in a fun-filled afternoon with family. To apply to be part of the race, or to simply come as a spectator, use the event’s website (https://www.sites.google.com/site/ggprix/home) to get more information.
