There has been free admission to the first race for 2019 season at Down Royal Race Course located at Maze, Lisburn, Co Down, Northern Ireland BT27 5RW. The first race will be held on Tuesday – January 29, 2019 which will start from 1.15 pm and last race at 4.15 pm.
The Down Royal Racecourse had been conducting the Horse Race since 17th century to the residents of Northern Ireland and it is not just a race, but it has been their part of culture and heritage. The race course has been under major developments and modernization since 1990’s. The first phase was completed in 1993 with a new Grandstand including 14 Corporate Boxes, Public bar, VIP Hospitality Suite and an elevated viewing area and in 1998 with completion of a Governor’s stand that offers membership area for freeman, Winning Post Café and a public viewing area. The second phase was completed in 2009 with Hospitality pavilion that includes Beef or Salmon Suite, Rainbow Telecom suite and private suites.
Now the first racing will be organized under the new management team at the race course and admission is free as the Europe’s leading gaming company – BetVictor is sponsoring for the same. Emma Meehan who is the Chief Executive of the Down Royal Racecourse is now busy with the first race arrangements in the 2019 season and she is eagerly waiting to welcome new visitors and returning punters.
She said that generally the January meeting will be quieter race days. But now it is important for the new management as it is the first race for them. She said that there will be a big crowd on the first day as they are hosting their first race under new management. This is the beginning of this New Year and they continue to have a busy year with full schedule of races this year.
