The South Holland District Council, Lincolnshire, is inviting people to take part in ‘Shout and About’, a 12-week competition of weekly fun and activities that’s up and running, with many free activities. There’s plenty of time to sign-up to join the fun activities with free events and it includes walking, exercise classes, arts, crafts, dancing, cooking, gardening and much more.
Participants joining and completing the activities will be awarded points that will go towards winning a series of prizes. The programme has started on Monday (24th August) and will continue for 12 weeks. Next week will get the participants onto a series of free gardening sessions. Anyone can join the event, even if not signed-up to the competition. Learn about different types of gardening and grow your own fruits and vegetable.
One of the sponsors is Silverwood Garden Centre in Long Sutton. They will deliver 2 workshops on 2nd September (Wednesday). The head gardener will be holding a potting shop to make hanging baskets, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 10:00am to 12 noon. Master gardeners also will be running workshops in Holbeach, Donington, Crowland and Spalding. Apart from free events, workshops are also being run on 3rd September, Thursday, from 3:00pm to 3:30pm at the Holbeach Youth Club, and from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Crowland Youth Club. Workshops are being held on 4th September, Friday, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at the Ayscoughfee Hall Gardens and at Donington’s Ruby Hunt Centre from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
