Festival of Social Science events at Bournemouth University

The 14th annual event of the Festival of Social Science is being celebrated and events are being organised by the Bournemouth University, as part of the nationwide festival. A host of free public events will take place nationwide. Around 250 events are lined up from 5th to 12th November.

Bournemouth events range from technology addressing digital addiction, to exploitation of tax havens and film screenings. The chance to know more about innovations in tourism, how personal info is shared on the web, the feminist legacy of Mary Shelley and also enjoy a play on happiness at Pavilion Dance.

The university will be showing Rufus Stone, on 5th November at Boscombe’s Shelley Theatre. This is an award-winning film on older LGBT people in rural communities. Events include an exhibition at Boscombe’s Sovereign Centre, HAP and What Is The Internet Hiding From You.

Public Engagement Officer at BU, Naomi Kay, said the festival provides a great opportunity to get an insight into social science research at the university and share opinions on issues that affect our lives and society.
