The Edinburgh International Festival has announced its line-up for this year (2018) and promises an exciting dance programme with a typically packed classical line-up. The Opening Event will be retuning to the Usher Hall, featuring music by Anna Meredith, on 3rd August (Friday) . Some of the highlights of this year include The West Wing’s Anna Deavere Smith, Sir Simon Rattle and Akram Khan.
The grand Opening Event has the music – Five Telegrams, co-commissioned with BBC Proms and 14-18 NOW. The music of Anna Meredith, the celebrated Scottish composer, is being presented as an outdoor digital performance, marking the Year of the Young and reflecting Scotland 100 years after the end of World War I. Free ticket bookings and details will be announced on 25th June (Monday).
The Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) is a celebration of the performing arts. EIF is an annual meeting place for peoples of all nations and presents some of the finest ensembles and performers from the genres of music, opera, dance and theatre, for 3 weeks, to captivate, entertain and thrill audiences in one place, purely committed to originality and virtuosity. EIF brings together unique collaborations, new takes on classics, world premières, critically acclaimed works and more. The EIF runs from 3rd to 27th August.
