Free Dog Health ChecksAll dog owners in The District Council of Braintree are being offered free checks for their dogs.

The District Council of Braintree in association with PDSA, which is the top veterinary charity group in the UK are providing dog owners in the Braintree district an opportunity to get the health of their dogs checked up.

People who can take their dogs to the PetCheck automobile can get their dogs checked absolutely free. They also get the chance to speak with nurses of the PDSA who have plenty of experience, concerning the weight of their pet, its coat, ears eyes, teeth and overall health condition.

The PDSA can also conduct microchipping that will be charged at 15.50 pounds as well as nail clipping at five pounds per pet. Just to be on the safe side, only dogs are permitted with their master, but the owner can talk to the PDSA nurses regarding other pets that they may probably have.

Councillor Wendy Smith stated that in these economically trying times it could be pretty tough to make the money to ensure that their pets are well and healthy, therefore they were really happy that the PDSA came forward with a helping hand and pay another visit to their district.

She went on to comment that during the event that was held previously, more than 60 percent of owners of pets visited the clinic to take advantage of the free pet health checks and avail of counselling at no cost at all. She added that they anticipate a bigger crowd this current year.

The different sites where the PDSA PetCheck automobiles will be stationed in the month of September are:

  • The Rosebay Close Play park on Tuesday the 25th of September
  • The Wentworth Crescent, Braintree CM7 2XS on Wednesday the 26th of September.
  • The Shaw Road Community Office located in Templars Estate, Witham CM8 2RR on Thursday the 27th September
  • The Chapel Street Car Park, Halstead CO9 2LR on Friday the 28th of the month and at the Discovery Centre, Great Notley CM77 7FS on Saturday the 29th September

The District council of Braintree has allocated two dog wardens who are members of the environmental service department. Their duties would be to pay special attention to problems relating to stray dogs, dog fouling, over control of the dogs as well as increasing the awareness of the public regarding how they must be responsible dog owners.
