Discover the ancient Japanese art of Ikebana at the 7th annual exhibition of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana at Hampstead, on 4th June. Creations of the ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement can be admired here by visitors from 11am to 4.30pm, at the venue in Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel. To try out a hand at this art, take part in ‘Let’s Try Ikebana’ lessons. There’s only a small charge for the materials used.
The Sogetsu School was founded in Tokyo in 1927. Ikebana arrangements look very contemporaty as they focus on form and space, rather than colour. The arrangements are displayed against plain backdrops, ether as a stand-alone piece or clustered in groups of smaller displays. The exhibition is open to all, with free entry to visitors.
