The Derby Feste this year is a 2-day outdoor entertainment event, to be held on 29th and 30th September (Friday and Saturday). The festival now in its 11th year, is a highlight in the Derby city’s calendar. The programme this year has a line-up of 18 free events and activities, with the theme that promises to fuse Western and Eastern cultures in a spectacular fusion, in the city centre.
On Friday there will be the first ever Feste Food Village, offering drinks and street food from across the world. Bass’ Recreation Ground will be a centre of fun, transforming into a World of Circus. Witness also here a lively procession and a fire garden. The grande finale in the evening is by Gorilla Circus, called The Altitude Show. Only the Friday night show of World of Circus is paid for and all the rest of the entertainment are free events.

At the city’s key landmarks there will be display of circus skills and dramatic acrobatics, plus sizzling music and dance, along with street theatre. The Colour of Time parade is Saturday’s showstopper, winding it way through the Cathedral Quarter. The parade through Derby Market Place will have a canopy of lanterns, with over 159 dancers performing under it. This year, the festival is comes a little later, to coincide with the finale of the Hindu Navratri Festival, to end on 29th September and with India’s 70th independence day anniversary and celebrations.
