This year’s Christmas Lights Switch On in Oldham is happening at the town centre, on 20th November, Sunday, starting at 4pm, in Parliament Square. The special guest at this free event this year are Boogie Storm, the dancing Stormtroopers of Britain’s Got Talent fame. They will be joined on stage by Oldham’s Ollie and Millie, Chase and Marshall (PAW Patrol) and a mix of local singers and performers. A colourful spectacular with fireworks display will be the family-favourite event.
The big countdown at Tommyfield Market starts from 4:45pm and will be marked by a stage show by Sam Giles, the talented young local performer. A leading youth street-dance group of Oldham will also perform. They will be followed by a spectacular dance show by the Boogie Storm. A small children’s funfair from 2pm with food stalls around the market area will be put up.
Councillor Derek Heffernan, the Mayor of Oldham, will be on stage to press the button, to switch-on the blaze of colours of Christmas Lights, joined by Chase and Marshall and Boogie Storm. A huge fireworks display will start at around 5:30pm, to light up the sky above the town centre. After the free event, Oldham will be illuminated by Christmas Lights from 3pm every day.
