May 25th, 2017 by Sandy

The Crystal Palace Overground Festival is back this year and will be held from 12th to 18th June around the Crystal Palace area. The arts and culture festival is bigger and better this year with family friendly events, including a big park event on 17th June at the Crystal Palace Park. Most of the events are free. Some of the highlights of the programme are given here.

On 17th June, there’s Morcheeba, one the favourite bands, to headline the main stage. Headlining the Spoken Word & Comedy Tent, will be London Olympics’ official poet, Lemu Sissay. Headlining the Youth Takeover Stage will be Kianja, the gust artist with the Jazz Warriors.

On 16th June, Dr. Alex Paterson, Nancy Noise and DJ Dadaist will perform. Join the throwdown dance at the park, where Sunanda Biswas and Temujin Gill will perform. Performing on their new work and substantial back catalogue, will be Sian Evans and Ron McElroy, his long term writing partner.

Events all week offer lots to see and do, which includes visual arts and crafts, theatre, live music, comedy, spoken word, storytelling, sports, community activities, vintage shopping and great food and drink. There is free entry for all on 17th June. To see the full programme visit the site- crystalpalacefestival.org.
