Under initiative of Older Persons’ Crucial Crew, a popular event that aims to promote safety for older people, is to be hosted again in Clacton. This town in Essex drew a full house for the programme last year and it is hoped for the same this year, which is to be held on 4th October. The fee event aims to give advice on how to be safe inside and outside the home, how to avoid scams and about living independent, healthier lives. A number of organisations and groups are teaming up, like the Essex Police, Essex County Councils adult operations, Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, CVS Tendring and Elder Abuse.
The council’s portfolio holder for health and eduction, Lynda McWilliams, said the event has been hugely successful always and has good commitment from all organisation involved, leaving only people to sign up and come. Small groups of people numbering around 8 will be addressed by speakers who have been lined-up, for 15 minutes at each table. There will also be stalls to visit and discuss issues. The free event will be held between 10am and 2pm at the Princes Theatre on the day. Those interested in registering, may contact by phone 01255-686359, or else email to- croot@tendringdc.gov.uk, to contact Charlotte Root.
