Circus Weekend returns again to Edinburgh

June 3rd, 2017 by Sandy

The free family-friendly Circus Weekend is returning to Greater Grassmarket in Edinburgh, on 17th and 18th June (Saturday and Sunday), from 11:30am to 4:30pm, and at 12:30pm and 3:30pm every day there’ll be performances on the Community Stage. The free event promoted by the Greater Grassmarket BID, in association with Let’s Circus, the travelling circus school and performance company, is returning for its second year.

In a brand new show created exclusively for event by Circus Alba, the best of Edinburgh’s youth circus talent will be showcased at 12:30pm every day. Leading comedy circus, Witty Look, a street-theatre duo, will perform at 3:30pm each day their headline show of 35 minutes. Visitors can learn to perform unicycling, trapeze, tight-wire walks and acrobatics for free at the Circus School, from 11:30am to 3:30pm, in the outdoor circus ring. The Circus Weekend is part of Greater Grassmarket BID’s line-up of summer events, funded by local businesses, to attract visitors to the area.

The Circus Weekend will have each artist performing here giving specialist workshops. The event features international artists from not only UK and the best Scottish talents, but also from Australia, Japan and Kenya. The free event at Edinburgh is brought to you by the leading provider of street-based circus events in UK, Let’s Circus. Grassmarket BID Project Manager, Norrie Stewart, says they are delighted Circus Weekend is returning bigger and better than ever,, with international acts and a former Guinness World Record holder unicyclist. He said it the perfect family day out and there will be something for everyone, with this year’s exceptional line-up of shows and activities.
