Free Self Defence LessonsFree sessions on self defence are being offered by a MARTIAL Arts school following an attack on a small girl the previous week.

Having read the news in the Adver the previous week, about the way in which a man driving a van attempted to get hold of a girl who had gone out with her friends in East Wichel, The girl was only 9 years old. Jason is the father of twins.

The girl was standing at junction of Brentfore Street and Yelland Walk awaiting the arrival of her friends when a man that people believe was in his late twenties made an attempt to catch the girl. Since the occurrence of the incident on the 7th of September, the police had put up an appeal.

The 38 year old Mr. Jason has been running the Martial Arts Centre for about a year and was hoping that by providing the kids with a chance to pick up the fundamental skills in martial arts in an easy going atmosphere, it would assist parents in having some solace that their children could protect themselves.

He stated that he too was the father of 9 year old twins and having read the story felt that he could do something to be of help. He added that he would be offering training for the initial one month free of cost at his School and that it would provide the children with 4 weeks to give martial arts a try. If they find that they do not have the flair for it, they still would have learnt the basics of how they could defend themselves. He mentioned that it was a good idea to give parents at least that much peace of mind.

He said that though they had started the school hardly a year ago, they already had thirty students.

He went on to explain that their sessions were based on games and that it was through these games that the children imbibed skills like respect and discipline.
