Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) scheme initiative is sure to offer a lift to households of the UK out of fuel poverty. As per the reports, the fuel poverty is one of the crises faced by the UK citizens. By making use of the current free or subsidized insulation schemes, 1.3 million UK homes will be rescued from fuel poverty. Analysis by the insulation producer Rockwool suggests that these schemes could offer a boosts the UK households who are fuel poor. At present, more than 5 million households in the UK are fuel poor. Houses classified under this category spend over 10% of their earnings on heating. Total costs spend on this could reach over 6.6 million.
By insulating lofts, pipes and floors, a typical household can save 24% on their fuel bills. This would reduce help them cut annual costs of by £315 from £1300. To protect the households from falling into the fuel poverty due to the increases of fuel prices, they should be use Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) scheme. Under the scheme, households offers a free and subsidized insulation to homes.
Paula Bateman, Rockwool’s director of corporate affairs said that although the fuel prices are increasing households who adopt the schemes like CERT are very low. These free schemes could help households cut down on their fuel expenditures.
