CarKraft’s driving safety scheme at Silverstone and Rockingham

March 20th, 2017 by Sandy

CarKraft’s driving safety initiative has since 2002 helped in reducing the number of people killed, or seriously injured in road traffic accidents, to an all-time low. The free programme runs between March and October. The improvement scheme, running successfully in its 15th year, aimed at first young drivers between the ages of 15 to 24. Since inception it has benefited more than 8000 people with this unique experience. CarKraft based in Northamptonshire expanded to include in 2014, non-drivers too, aged 15 to 25 years old, and all ages of licence holders anywhere from UK.

Renault is once again backing the award-winning safety scheme now in its 8th year. They are joining hands with Northamptonshire Police, Northamptonshire Highways and Adrian Flux Insurance, who all are supporting the events. Highly qualified professionals with years of both motor racing and advanced driving techniques experience, are the tutors running it. The programme offers participants a dynamic mix of experience in simulated, challenging conditions, in a variety of car models of Renault, plus workshops. Each is a free course. Focus is on main causes of car crashes, such as, excess alcohol/drug driving, inappropriate or excessive speeds, failing to judge / look and seat-belt safety.

The programme has become highly popular and regularly over-subscribed, attracting many other local authorities for best practice visits. The event calendar show thus- at Silverstone on 23rd April (Sunday) and 24th September (Sunday) and at Rockingham, on 10th June (Saturday) and 21st October (Saturday).
