Calls to 0800 numbers to be free for mobile phone users

Free 0800 NumbersUnder the new proposals of Ofcom, mobile phone users can make calls to 0800 numbers free. Earlier, this facility was available only for landline customers. The regulator is making conscious efforts to make calls to 0800 and 116 numbers free of cost. At present, mobile phone users need to pay 21 pence a minute to make a call to 0800 number. Once, the new proposals receive approval, mobile phone users can make calls to the numbers for free of cost. Regulator hopes that the new proposals will clear uncertainties regarding the costs to call 0800 numbers. The new scheme will not only benefit the mobile phone customers but also the service providers.

Mobile phone customers are uncertain about the call costs to 0800 numbers. Ofcom is considering the costs for calling non-geographic phone numbers. These are used for institutions like banks and government agencies. Since users are not sure of the calling costs to these numbers, they are inclined to use the services. Under the new proposals customers could receive clearer information about the call costs and better services. Mobile phone consumers can benefit from free Calls to 0800 numbers very soon. Under the new plans, the price structure for calling a particular number will be specified clearly.
