Free lessons are being provided by East Antrim Accordion School for school going kids.
Reopening after the summer holidays, the East Antrim Accordion School is providing free classes for school kids.
The East Antrim Accordion School was established in the year 1989 under the guidance of Clyde Johnston and since then it has been gathering plenty of through the years. The students who joined the school have been pretty successful in contests both in their region as well as throughout the country. In addition the pupils of this school are greatly sought after for performances and they seem to be getting pleasure out of their increasing renown for excellence, giving performances at different housing colonies in the region other than giving solo performances.
At the UK Championships conducted the previous year, it was Jenny Beattie hailing from Straid who was chosen to be crowned UK 16 along with Under Polka Champion Jonathan Milson from Larne occupying the second place in the Elementary Solo and also the 13 and Under Musette Solo as also the third place in the 12 and Under Polka. Towards the earlier part of the current year Emma Dunlop form Carrickfergus also won three prizes at the UK Championships, winning the second place in the Higher Preparatory Solo and the 12 and Under Polka as also the third place in the Musette.
There is no age bar for people to join this school, and all the pupils are instructed separately. As a sample for school going kids, the initial six lessons are provided free of cost and the students are not obliged to continue if they are not interested. The students are instructed to read music and play the treble as well as the bass keyboards of the accordion which has become a greatly well liked instrument. They are also in a position to prepare for examinations that are conducted by the British College of Accordionists and can contend against others in a variety of musical carnivals or just play the instrument for their pleasure.
In addition to having Larne being accepted as the formal British College of Accordionists centre for examinations, the college delegate for North Ireland is Clyde and he has also been made a member of the Teachers advisory Council.
