The British Academy returns with its biennial Literature Week, starting on 11th May and running till 17th May, for the fourth time. It’s packed with events and everything is free. Everything starts off with a special launch night on 11th May. The launch will have storytelling by Ben Haggerty of the Crick Crack Club, plus Maria Warner, author, academic, mythographer and critic, with author Marcus Sedgwick to present a talk on fairy tales.

The Literature Week is filled with storytelling, talks, fairy tales, theatre and hands-on fun. Lionel Shriver will make you see the short story ‘Pin Drop’ in a whole new light. In an event for families, Globe Education will perform their ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in a reworked and shortened version. At the British Library, enlighten your lunchtime with talks on Angela Carter, translation and African folklore. After dark, British Academy’s beautiful HQ at Carlton House Terrace will have live storytelling, pop-up lectures and fun. You can register to follow the free events and programme by visiting the British Academy website (http://www.britac.ac.uk/events/2015/Literature_Week_2015.cfm).
